Time to Say Goodbye to Fungal Nail Infection

Fungal nail infection is one of the most disgusting and embarrassing infections that can ever happen to anyone. A person with fungal nail infection can do so little in hiding this condition from the eyes of other people. Furthermore, fungal nail infection is communicable. One can really tell the difference between a healthy nail and an infected nail because an infected nail thickens and shows a yellowish or light brownish discoloration. If the fungal nail infection becomes severe, the nail can turn to black. Some of the causes of infection are contamination from infected items, loss of normal immune system function due to old age, diabetes mellitus, as well as sexually-transmitted diseases or any related factors. These factors are further boosted by other factors such as wearing tight-fitting gloves, sweaty hands and feet, wearing tight shoes, reusing soiled socks all of which enhance fungal multiplication. In order to cure this fungal nail infection, a person has to undergo a series of complex home remedies.

In recent years, the popularity of home remedies for fungal nail infection has increased. Even people from ancient times already suffered from such an infection. In the olden days, the only means of treating this condition is through the use of home treatments. Home remedies do not have side effects unlike the development of recent drugs and they are also cheaper compared to oral medications.

Among the solutions that have the capability of killing the fungus are bleaching powder, hydrogen peroxide and diluted vinegar. These solutions are more opted compared to other home remedies because they are very strong. All an infected person has to do is to soak the infected fingernail or toenail into the solution for 15 to 20 minutes. This should be done religiously until changes can be observed and until such time that the infection is no longer noticeable. The solution’s ability to cure may take days to weeks to months. If you do not have the patience to wait that long then you can try to thin your nails. Thinning your nails will enable an increased absorption of the solution into the nail beds. The more the solution is absorbed, the faster the curing process will get.

Tea tree oil is another home remedy that cures fungal infection. The tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves and stem of an Australian tea tree. This oil contains an amazingly high anti-fungal property which has been scientifically proven. This oil can be directly applied to the infected nail or finger. The application allows the solution to penetrate the nail, thus eliminating the fungus and curing the infected nail over time. Tea tree oil is more effective compared to other oils and anyone can obtain this oil either in its pure form or mix it with other natural ingredients.

Another effective home remedy is the anti-fungal mud or saprox. This remedy originated from the Czech Republic. The anti-fungal mud is used in the same manner as the tea tree oil. The antifungal mud is to be applied over the infected nail. This mud’s effectiveness can further be enhanced by soaking the infected fingernail with any of the other solutions such as bleaching powder, hydrogen peroxide or a combination of the two.

Home remedies have different effects on every person that is why if a certain remedy does not work by itself; a combination therapy should be the next option.
